General Summary

The Install-Repair Technician position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing high-speed wireless internet service for customers. This position is also responsible for basic maintenance of company equipment and assigned vehicle.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform onsite customer installations; mount antenna/reflector on roof; run wiring from outside antenna to inside wall plate/plug; fasten wiring to outside roof/wall or run cable through attic to inside wall.
• Communicate in a professional manner with customers concerning the placement/appearance of the installation and completion of paperwork.
• Address customer questions/concerns using a courteous and professional approach.
• Clean up after customer installation; includes boxes, pieces of cable, sheetrock dust from cutting wall plate hole, etc.
• Set up VoIP telephone equipment and test for proper functionality.
• Perform onsite customer repairs; align the antenna with the transmitter to achieve optimal performance; change the mount to adjust for new obstacles; move the mount; replace the antenna/radio; replace wiring or connectors which may not have been functioning properly.
• Perform maintenance on company vehicle as directed by management; wash the van; ensure that oil changes and maintenance are conducted in a timely manner.
• Determine which tools are needed for scheduled installations and organize and load equipment into the van as needed.
• Perform basic PC and LAN set-up and repair.
• Assist customers with Initial PC Configuration; email account setup, LAN setup and basic ISP use.
• Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

Requirements
Knowledge and Skills Required

• High School diploma required; minimum 1-3 years of related experience.
• Must have a valid drivers license.
• ISP installation and repair experience is preferred.
• Basic carpentry/electrician skills; ability to use drills, wrenches, saws, wire cutters/scissors, crimping tools and ladders.
• Experience with LAN/Networking CAT5 cabling skills (RJ-45 connectors).
• Strong technical skills – specifically with networking and computer configuration.
• Physical ability to climb steep roofs (to mount hardware) and to crawl through hot, cramped, attic spaces.
• Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues; quickly learn and adapt to new concepts.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must comply with Company and OSHA established safety policies and requirements.

Working Conditions

Must be able to work safely in a field environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to climb a ladder and work in an elevated position. Must be able to safely lift and carry heavy or awkward objects (100 lbs. or over.) Responsibilities may require weekend and/or evening work. Daily travel within our geographical footprint.
